History
In 1996, the Lees invested in a piece of land in the western region of Singapore. On the 100,000 sq ft plot, they built a single-storey warehouse with a capacity of 500 pallets. In a short span of three years, JCS was expanded to house 15,000 pallets. As the Lees anticipated issues with labour shortage in the future, they invested in automation. The result is one of Singapore’s first facilities to advance from a manual to automated warehouse with JCS’ adoption of the state-of-the-art Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) in 1997.
Mr Lee’s pioneering spirit led him to venture offshore. In 2001, he established a fully-integrated shrimp farm with a hatchery, grow-out pond and processing facility in Indonesia. With a deep passion for food quality, he has spent 16 years at his farm personally overseeing its processes and ensuring shrimp harvests.
Since 2010, the company under its second-generation leadership, has sought new opportunities to take the business to greater heights. Today, JCS is in bringing high quality and sustainable fresh produce from farm to table by working with trusted partners in offering total fully-visible, supply chain logistics solutions. To meet the demands of our growing list of customers, plans are underway for a brand new and expanded JCS facility in 2016 – one of the region’s highest fully-automated temperature-controlled facility with a 15,000-pallet capacity at 45 metres.
The success of JCS is the result of a winning combination of experience and commitment – ensuring reliability, efficiency and excellence in service quality. Our expertise includes advance refrigeration and cold chain logistics solutions.
The founders’ deep involvement and hands-on approach in the food business from their butchery days to shrimp farming has inculcated a culture of excellence and in-depth knowledge throughout the entire workforce of JCS. This has made JCS truly knowledgeable and sensitive to the conditions that are required to maintain food quality through the cold storage lifecycle.
